Dr. Jatinder (Jeet) N. D. Gupta was recognized with the Decision Sciences Institute’s (DSI) highest honor for his outstanding contributions to teaching and learning in the field of decision sciences.
At the annual DSI conference, the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Business faculty member, Dr. Gupta, was named the recipient of the Lifetime Distinguished Educator Award.
“I am thrilled to receive this award from a global society of academicians in Decision Sciences. I am thankful to all those involved in this process and appreciate the Decision Sciences Institute bestowing this honor to me”, said Dr. Gupta.
Every year this award honors a member of DSI who has practiced exceptional contributions to teaching and learning in the disciplines of decision sciences in their career. Contributions include innovative teaching methods, improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning of decision sciences disciplines, sustaining high level of teaching effectiveness, mentoring students, and sustaining professional development.
DSI President, Dr. Janet Hartley, said that Dr. Gupta’s long record of involvement in program and course development at multiple institutions, focus on applied learning, and efforts on industry partnerships and grants all left an impression on the DSI review committee.
Dr. Hartley also mentioned that feedback from Dr. Gupta’s students spoke positively of the impact Dr. Gupta has had on them and of his commitment to students and their growth.
“We are very fortunate in the College of Business to have many outstanding teachers among our faculty. They are experts in their fields and work hard to help students develop as business professionals. We are proud that Dr. Gupta’s commitment to our programs and our students has been recognized by DSI”, said Dr. Jason Greene, the Dean of the College of Business.
Dr. Gupta has been a member of DSI for 50 years and has served in numerous leadership roles. He is currently the Director of Integrated Enterprise Lab, Eminent Scholar of Management of Technology, Professor of Information Systems, Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at UAH. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University, a M. Tech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and a B.
