Description of Violation: A complainant submitted a report alleging that he had been subjected to unreasonable emotional and mental stress as a pledge of his fraternity chapter. The complainant reported these incidents took place with his entire fraternity pledge class during the days immediately preceding the reporting date. According to the report, the fraternity member ("New Member Educator") educating and training the pledge class had placed an unreasonable emphasis on learning and testing the fraternity's history, even threatening the membership of all pledges if they failed to pass the test. These expectations allegedly caused the complainant to become afraid and experience excessive mental stress due to having to prioritize the fraternity obligations over academic requirements, employment, and other obligations. The complainant also reported that the remainder of the pledge class would not report because they felt threatened by the New Member Educator.
