June 20, 2025 The Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) concluded its 13th Annual National Juried Exhibition on June 13, 2025, featuring 23 artists from nine U.S. states. Among the featured artists was UAH Art, Art History, and Design Professor Jill Johnson. During the exhibition, Johnson was awarded the Purchase Prize Winner. The Purchase Prize signifies that the BAAC acquired Johnson’s work for its permanent collection, thereby cementing her place in the institution’s art legacy. Her piece joins a body of autonomous, thought-provoking works, offering ongoing public access and lasting recognition. Jill Johnson’s “The Child is a Symptom of the Parent” utilizes graphite, oil, ink, pastel, and gold leaf on panel (Photo Above).
