Game Design is a multidisciplinary degree for students interested in exposure to the full video game production pipeline. Students will learn the technical tools, design, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills necessary in the production of video games from faculty in Art, Art History, & Design, Computer Science, EnglishPsychologyMusic, Communication Arts, and Business to understand and effectively communicate between disciplines.

The video game industry employs artists, designers, animators, programmers, writers, and more. Students interested in any area of this growing field can customize their major by selecting elective tracks in:

This multidiciplinary approach opens a wide range of career opportunities working as a level designer, systems designer, UI/UX artist, 3D modeler, animator, producer, technical artist, and programmer. Graduates from the program will be ideal candidates for careers working in:

  • Entertainment Industry (studio or indie)
  • Serious Games (defense, healthcare, education, or training and simulations)
  • Contracting and Grants

Game Development and Publishing is the capstone course for the major, bridging the gap between conceptual game design and the final product. Students will build upon previous coursework by advancing their projects toward a completed, polished title ready for distribution or submission. Consider it your "exit interview" for the program.
