2020 Spring Technical Meeting of the Central States Section — Calls for Papers and Competitions

The 2020 Spring Technical Meeting will be held 17–19 May in Huntsville, Alabama. The University of Alabama in Huntsville is hosting. This year we will be continuing the popular Art Competition and are pleased to announce a new program, the Undergraduate Student Research Competition. Details of the competitions are given below.

 

Please note the following details regarding submission of abstracts and papers:

 
Manuscript Information:

  • 18 February – Abstract submission opens
  • 17 March – Abstract submissions deadline (23:59 EDT)
  • 24 March – Abstract acceptance/rejection notification
  • 21 April – Paper submission deadline (23:59 EDT)

Colloquia Topics:

  • Industrial and applied combustion
  • Fire
  • Droplet and sprays
  • Novel combustion techniques
  • Diagnostics
  • Turbulent combustion
  • Internal combustion engines
  • Alternative fuels and emissions
  • Reaction kinetics
  • Combustion theory and modeling
  • Laminar flames
  • Particulates and multiphase flows

All abstract and paper submissions and registration for the 2020 CSSCI Spring Technical Meeting must be done through the CI website.
   
YOU MUST CHECK YOUR COMBUSTION INSTITUTE ACCOUNT ON THE CI WEBSITE TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS. Inability to access your account will not be accepted as a reason for delayed submissions.
   

Combustion Art Competition:

All researchers are invited to display visualizations of their combustion research in the 2020 Combustion Art Competition. Cash prizes will be awarded in the categories of technical merit and artistic merit. Submissions are due 1 May.

 

Undergraduate Student Research Competition:

  • 7 February – Abstract submissions deadline (23:59 EST)
  • 15 February – Abstract acceptance/rejection notification
  • 7 April – Full submission deadline (23:59 EDT)
  • 17 April – Email notifications to the winners.

Undergraduate student researchers are invited to apply for the inaugural CSSCI Undergraduate Research Competition. Students will produce a short educational video summarizing their research, and two award recipients will be invited to present their research at the 2020 Spring Technical Meeting in Huntsville.

   

Registration Information:

  • 18 February – Registration opens
  • 21 April – Early registration deadline (23:59 EDT)
  • 14 May – Online registration deadline (23:59 EDT)

Student Travel Support:

Student travel support for presenting student authors is anticipated and details will be posted shortly on the 2020 Spring Technical Meeting website.
