Biography
Choosing your DNP chair is an important step, and you deserve someone who will support you, challenge you, and help you stay on track. I’m Dr. Tracy Lakin, and I teach in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program and the Master of Science in Nursing Education Program. I also serve as the Graduate Simulation Coordinator, am a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, and continue to practice clinically in cardiology. I love working with DNP students and have chaired a wide range of projects — from program evaluations and quality improvement to clinical practice changes and technology‑based initiatives. Some of the projects I’ve supported include reducing 30‑day CHF readmissions, improving rural diabetes self‑efficacy, decreasing delirium through protocol implementation, strengthening tracheostomy emergency responses, and reducing CLABSI rates. I’ve had the privilege of graduating 11 DNP students, each with a unique and meaningful project. If you’re looking for a chair who is accessible, organized, and committed to helping you succeed, I’d be happy to support you through your DNP journey.
