Biography

Dr. Jarmel Poole is a Clinical Instructor and lead faculty member for the Maternal Infant Nursing course at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Nursing. She has served at UAH for ten academic years and has more than 15 years of experience working with women, infants, and families. Dr. Poole is passionate about improving maternal and infant health outcomes across Alabama, particularly in rural and underserved communities. She serves on the Alabama Regional Perinatal Advisory Board and is involved in initiatives focused on maternal-child health, nursing education, and workforce development. Dr. Poole earned her BSN and MSN from the University of North Alabama and her Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership with a focus on nursing education from The University of Alabama. Her work in nursing education emphasizes clinical judgment, innovative teaching strategies, simulation, and preparing students to provide safe, evidence-based care to maternal and newborn patients. In addition to teaching, Dr. Poole is actively involved in university service, curriculum development, faculty leadership, and community maternal-child health initiatives. She is committed to educating and mentoring future nurses while advancing the health of women and babies throughout Alabama.
