Biography

Dr. Brooke Powers, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in concierge primary care. Dr. Powers blends multi-state clinical expertise with a deep commitment to nursing education, evidence-based research, and holistic wellness. At UAH, she bridges classroom theory and practice through clinical instruction across regional healthcare systems and the Simulation and Learning Innovation Center. Clinically, she provides personalized, full-spectrum primary care for pediatric through geriatric populations at Powerful Health and Wellness, LLC in Huntsville. Dr. Powers earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from UAH in 2026. Her doctoral research focused on integrating physical and mental health, specifically evaluating the impact of structured walking programs on reducing PHQ-9 scores. Her manuscript on this lifestyle intervention is currently under review for publication. She also presented her work on using telehealth to facilitate frequent appointments and reduce depressive symptoms at the Joint Doctoral Intensive in Huntsville. She holds an MSN-FNP from UAH and a BSN from Purdue University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Her foundational knowledge is further supported by a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

Her clinical trajectory includes vital frontline experience as a versatile Float RN at Benewah Community Hospital—spanning emergency medicine, med-surg, and labor and delivery—where she also served on the Simulation Resource Team. Dedicated to community and global health, Dr. Powers has served as an ultrasound-trained RN and lactation consultant for the Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center and volunteered with missions in Mexico, working in the vision clinic and diabetes testing. Driven by a passion for mentorship and therapeutic partnerships, she actively shapes the next generation of nursing leaders while advancing accessible, patient-centered care.
