Biography

Dr. Dinesha V. Hegde earned his Ph.D. in Space Science from The University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2025. His doctoral research investigated the impact of uncertainties in solar photospheric boundary conditions on magnetohydrodynamic simulations of the solar wind at multiple locations in the inner heliosphere using multi-spacecraft observations from Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, STEREO-A, and near-Earth spacecraft. He has also contributed to the development of Surya, the first high-resolution artificial intelligence foundation model for heliophysics, by developing a curated, machine-learning-ready Solar Dynamics Observatory dataset. His current research focuses on the scientific validation of Surya and the development of downstream space weather applications using Surya.
