The 22nd AIAC brought together 72 researchers from 13 countries to discuss solar wind and very local interstellar medium physics, at a time when Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, New Horizons, Voyager 1 & 2, and IBEX continue returning groundbreaking data — with IMAP and HelioSwarm preparing to launch. Sessions covered coronal heating, turbulence, shock waves, cosmic rays, and particle acceleration and transport throughout the heliosphere and local ISM.

The meeting was held in Santiago de Compostela, the historic pilgrimage destination on the Camino de Santiago, and directed by Dr. Gary P. Zank, Director of UAH's Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research (CSPAR).

The 21st AIAC focused on the origins and termination of the solar wind — the initiation of the solar wind low in the solar corona, and its termination through interaction with the local interstellar medium. Sessions followed the usual 25-minute format, punctuated by selected 40-minute invited talks, and covered coronal heating, turbulence, switchbacks, shock waves, energetic particles, and particle acceleration and transport in both the young and distant solar wind and its interaction with the outer heliosphere and local interstellar medium.

The meeting was held in Turin, Italy, home to the historic Turin Astrophysical Observatory and Alenia Space, and directed by Dr. Gary P. Zank, Director of UAH's Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research (CSPAR).
