Ms. Mina Fan Instructor - Theory & Composition, Music Contact 301 Sparkman DriveRoberts HallRoom 211Huntsville, AL 35899 Campus Map mina.fan@uah.edu Biography Mina Fan, a composer and pianist, studied music composition and theory at the China Conservatory in Beijing and graduated with Magna cum laude. Her capstone composition piece, Symbol & Charm, was performed by the China National Opera Symphony Orchestra. After receiving the Music Talent Scholarship from the Margaret Petree Foundation and BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), Mina Fan traveled to the United States to further pursue her music career. She earned a Master of Music degree in Composition from Oklahoma City University and later completed a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at Illinois State University. One of her composition pieces, String Quartet No. 2, was released by the American Contemporary Record Society in 2011. As a pianist, Mina was recognized as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. She performed in numerous concerts and recitals and was invited to play in the orchestra for Huntsville Opera House in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in 2023. Mina Fan served as faculty at Alabama A&M University and Oakwood University. Currently, she instructs Music Theory and Composition at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
