Mr. Ken Ortlepp

Biography

Ken Ortlepp has sustained an active career as a performer and teacher. He has appeared as a hornist with several orchestras and ensembles, including the Mississippi Symphony, Mobile Symphony, Memphis Symphony, North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, Denver Brass and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Ortlepp served as Principal Hornist with the United States Air Force Band of the West, San Antonio, TX. As a bandsman, he performed with the Concert Band, Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet and was also the Drum Major for the Ceremonial Band.

He resides in Huntsville and also teaches CPR at Huntsville Hospital, maintains a small private horn studio and coaches bowling at Huntsville High School.

Mr. Ortlepp earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Mississippi and completed his coursework towards a DA at the University of Northern Colorado. He has studied horn with Denny Behm, Jill Wilson, Jack Herrick and Bill VerMeulen.
