Biography

As an active performer and educator, violinist Dr. Julie Haring has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Central America. Currently, Dr. Haring performs with orchestras across the Southeast United States and serves as an Orchestra Teaching Assistant in the Tuscaloosa City School District. Previously, she lived and worked in Connecticut for seven years.

As a soloist, Dr. Haring has been featured with the Bradley Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln-Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, and was the featured alumni soloist with the Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony and Lincoln-Way Central Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Dr. Haring spent three years as first violinist with the Luna String Quartet and five years as lead violinist in Foot in the Door, a contemporary music ensemble. She currently serves as a violinist in the Willow String Trio, a group dedicated to performing works by lesser-known composers. Her recordings can be heard on the Naxos label.

During her time in New England, Dr. Haring served as concertmaster of the Connecticut Valley Symphony and Manchester Symphony Orchestra, served as a violin teaching artist at Summit Studios, and maintained a private studio of violin and viola students. With a strong commitment to education and access to music education, she has also collaborated with Teaching Artists International to bring music to underprivileged students around the world, most recently in Guatemala.

Dr. Haring received her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Bradley University in 2016 and a Master of Music in violin performance from The Hartt School, University of Hartford in 2018. In May 2022, she graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts in violin performance and minor in music history from The Hartt School, where she was also awarded the Regents Honor Award, the university’s most distinguished award for graduate students. Her principal teachers have included Marcia Henry Liebenow and Anton Miller.

Outside of her career, Dr. Haring enjoys hiking, board games, reading, and spending time with her little brother through the Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer program.
