Biography
Devin Underwood has been playing trumpet for over 15 years, performing within many ensembles and bands throughout his education and within the communities that he has resided in. These performing experiences include jazz bands, an expanded jazz ensemble, jazz combo groups, symphonic bands, graduate wind ensembles, university orchestras, orchestra pits for musicals, variety rock bands, and a modern music ensemble.
Devin attended The University of North Alabama where he studied with Dr. Edd Jones, and quickly found an affinity for lead trumpet playing in the university jazz band and marching band. While at The University of North Alabama Devin’s passion for music education began to grow as he became more involved with local schools teaching lessons, assisting with ensembles, and teaching at summer marching band camps. Devin then went on to study with Dr. John Marchiando at The University of New Mexico. Here Devin excelled in all ensembles as a flexible and reliable professional playing lead trumpet in the school's jazz band and principal trumpet in both the graduate wind ensemble and the university orchestra.
As a teacher, Devin works across north Alabama with schools and organizations as he grows his studio in a region that he is passionate about strengthening.
