Message from the Dean

Are you ready to take your academic career to the next level? Then come to UAH, where the Spirit of Discovery is powering our students to reach amazing new heights – no matter what their major. Just take a look some of the groundbreaking achievements that UAH alumni have already made:

  • Jan Davis ('85 PhD & '83 MSE, Mechanical Engineering) visited space three times to work on novel methods for thin-film crystal growth.

  • Jim Hudson ('87 MS, Biology) is the creator and chairman of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

  • Harrison Diamond ('13 MA, Public Affairs) is the City of Huntsville's Business Relations Officer, appointed by Mayor Tommy Battle.

  • Stephen Zelnak ('73 MS, Business Administrative Science) is the President, CEO and Chairman of Martin Marietta Materials.

  • Destin Sandlin ('11 MSE, Mechanical Engineering) is the creator and host of the popular online YouTube series Smarter Every Day.

  • Cindy Cooke ('98 MSN, Family Nurse Practitioner) served as a Marshall Space Flight Center nurse before becoming President of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

  • Travis Taylor ('12 PhD, Aerospace Systems Engineering; '01 MSE, Aerospace Engineering; '99 Phd, Optical Science; '94 MS, Physics) is the star of National Geographic Channel's Rocket City Rednecks and author.

And that Spirit of Discovery continues today. Current UAH graduate students have turned a wheelchair into a geo-positioning robot, built the university's first miniature cube satellite, and used model aviation to conduct remote sensing in the rainforests of Guatemala, among many other accomplishments.

What will your Spirit of Discovery lead you to do? Don't wait to find out. Apply today and let your #SpiritofDiscovery take flight at UAH!
