Respite
UCP Huntsville’s statewide Alabama Lifespan Respite (ALR) program has received a mid-year funding increase from the Alabama Department of Mental Health to support family caregivers of children with ID who are not currently enrolled with ALR or any other respite program. Children up to age 19 with documentation of an IQ below 70 or a qualifying diagnosis of Down syndrome, Prader-Willi, Fragile X, or fetal alcohol syndrome qualify. Caregivers would receive at least $800 in respite reimbursement from ALR between now and Sept. 15. Caregivers may apply online at https://alabamarespite.org/apply-for-respite/.
