The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Board of Directors at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of the University of Alabama System, presented a $1,000 donation to the College of Professional Studies (CPS) Last Mile Fund on Monday, March 28, 2022. The gift was made in honor of Dr. Charles L. Karr, Interim President of UAH. During a meet-and-greet with UAH's tenth president, Jill Stewart, OLLI at UAH Board President, presented the check and addressed Dr. Karr.

“The members of OLLI at UAH are very pleased to welcome you to Huntsville and to this campus. We hope that you find your time here to be rewarding and productive and we look forward to supporting you in your vision and your plans for the University. So, in recognition of you joining us all here at UAH, the OLLI Board of Directors is making a $1,000 donation to the Last Mile scholarship fund in your honor.”

As a community of lifelong learners, OLLI at UAH wanted to welcome the president to UAH while helping deserving students in CPS reach the finish line. OLLI’s contribution to the Last Mile Fund will help upper-level, degree-seeking CPS undergraduate students overcome financial barriers to graduation.

This generosity from the OLLI at UAH Board of Directors will not only benefit recipients of the Last Mile Fund, but will also strengthen graduation rates at UAH and contribute significantly to the local workforce and economy.
