The ACT is a national college admission examination that measures what a student has learned in school. It is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors and consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing Test. Check directly with the colleges you are considering to determine if the Writing Test is required for admission.

Test Dates and Registration
  • Registration is available on the ACT website. Check during online registration for The University of Alabama in Huntsville availability.

Test Day Information
  • Bring your printed admission ticket printed with the correct test location, date, and time.
  • Bring approved identification. Please see acceptable forms of identification on the ACT website.
  • Bring several number 2 pencils. Mechanical pencils and pens are not allowed.
  • ACT permits examinees to use a calculator for the Mathematics Test but not on any of the other tests. Use of a calculator is optional. All problems on the Mathematics Test can be solved without a calculator. For an approved list of calculators see the ACT website.
  • Exam length is approximately 4 hours.
