UAH changes the name of the College of Education to encompass all of its programs

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Education will become the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. The name change was proposed and approved today at The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees meeting in Birmingham. UAH is a part of the UA System.

The new name more accurately reflects the expertise and range of innovative work conducted by College of Education faculty in a wide array of degree programs, said Dr. Beth Quick, dean of the college. These programs include applied behavior analysis; sport and fitness management, and child, family and community development.

“The UAH College of Education has been supporting our students in many different disciplines for more than a decade,” Quick said. “As the educational landscape continues to change, we felt it was imperative that we rebrand the college to connect with our vision and strategic plan for the future.”

The College of Education focuses on collaborative, elementary, English Speakers of Other Languages and secondary teacher preparation as well as exercise science and sport and fitness management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. More than 400 students are currently enrolled in the college.
