Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Program (ANGEAP)

The Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Program is a state student assistance program designed to provide financial assistance to Alabama National Guard members attending an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning located within the State of Alabama.

For every semester you wish to utilize your ANGEAP benefits, you must submit the ANGEAP application form to the MVP Office.

Yellow Ribbon Program

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is a participating institution in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a benefit included with the Post 9/11 GI Bill to help cover GI Bill eligible costs that exceed the students annual funding limit. Click here for additional information.

Tuition Assistance

Service Members must receive approbal from an Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within the military rior to enrolling in classes. Speak with your command education representative before applying to use Tuition Assistance.

Price of Freedom Scholarship (Madison County Heritage Commission)

The Price of Freedom Scholarship honors the sacrifices of Madison County's veterans by inspiring high school students to research and share their stories. Stars & Stripes Scholars Fund Scholarship (AVAA)

The AVAA Stars and Stripes Scholars Fund is designed to provide financial assistance with tuition, fees, books, or supplies, and is provided to the institution on your behalf. All unused funds are refundable to the student when all financial obligations are met. The scholarship committee will evaluate each application based on completeness, content of the essay, and letters of recommendation. Scholarship funds must be used within the academic year in which the scholarship was awarded. Scholarship awards are at least $1000 per student.

Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Dept. of VA)

The Fry Scholarship is a benefit made available to the dependents of service members who died in the line of duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001. This scholarship is not a competitive scholarship, but is earned automatically upon the loss of the service member. Additional information on Fry Scholarship eligibility can be found here.

Captain Robert Brian Thomas Memorial Scholarship (AFROTC)

The Captain Thomas Scholar will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for use over the academic year for which they are selected. To be eligible for the Captain Robert Brian Thomas Memorial Schoalrship a student must be either a Junior or Senior participating in the AFROTC program and currently in a full-time status.

America's Gold Star Families Scholarship (America's Gold Star Families)

America’s Gold Star Families annually awards $1000 scholarships to family members of a fallen hero while serving active duty. Each is a non-renewable scholarship to be used at a college/university or trade/vocational school of their choice to enable them to follow their aspirations for a higher education or vocational certification. This is our way of saying ‘Thank you from a grateful nation. Find information here.

Gold Star Scholarship Fund (The Cost of Courage Foundation)

The Cost of Courage Foundation was founded in honor of Sgt. Donald Fitzmaurice who was KIA during the Doolittle Raid in 1942. For this reason, Gold Star Families and service members killed in the line of duty hold a special place in our hearts and we have the utmost respect and gratitude for their unfathomable loss. The sacrifice of those Killed in Action is timeless and the impact of their loss is felt for generations to come. Those they leave behind are often charged with carrying on their legacy when they no longer have a voice. In many cases, this legacy lives on through the children and families of those killed in action who must now live not only for themselves, but for their loved one. Learn More here.
