Biography

Dewey C. Layman is the President and CEO of CipherNova. Mr. Layman has vast experience in cybersecurity and secure software and mobile development. He has supported and continues to support many agencies such as the Department of Defense (DoD), USAF Air Intelligence, US Army Intelligence, National Security Agency (NSA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in addition to supporting various commercial organizations.

While working for ALETA, NASA, and the AIA (Air Intelligence Agency) he was the expert in the utilization of cybersecurity and software engineering and has been awarded several times for his exceptional service in support of the Space Shuttle Program, the Identity & Access Management (IdAM) System, and the NASA Online Registration System (NORS). Mr. Layman was the recipient of the "Certificate of Recognition" from the AIA for outstanding support to the intelligence community and was also recognized by the NSA for support that exceeded the customer's expectations. He has developed and continues to support many client/server, web, and mobile applications using secure coding best practices and procedures. Technologies involved include but are not limited to all domains of Java, Python, C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript & JavaScript frameworks (i.e. AngularJS), Bootstrap, Spring, HTML5, and many more.

Mr. Layman also has a very strong academic background in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. He holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) where he was the sole recipient of the prestigious "Outstanding Master of Science in Cybersecurity Award." Mr. Layman also has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from UAH where he again was the sole recipient of the "Departmental Honors in Information Systems Award." In addition to the Cybersecurity and Information Systems degrees, Mr. Layman has degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Hawaii Pacific University (HPU).

Outside of the professional and academic arena, Mr. Layman became a licensed private pilot in 2007, and when his day-to-day routine allows, he loves to take the opportunity and appreciate the freedom of flight.
