Dr. Rebecca Hazelwood is a lecturer in the English department at The University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she teaches classes in creative writing, literature, and composition. Her specialty is creative nonfiction, and she is interested in the intersection of space, time, and memory. Her essays have been published in Guernica, Passages North, December, Entropy, Hobart, PANK, Appalachian Review, and others. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net, as well as receiving honorable mention in the Robert and Adele Schiff Awards and finalist in the Curt Johnson Prose Awards. She has also been featured in Memoir Monday, sponsored by Narratively, Guernica, Rumpus, Catapult, Tin House, Longreads, and Granta. She is currently finishing her first book, a in essays. In addition to teaching, she is the faculty advisor for the UAH chapter of the NAACP.
