Biography

Smith's current research examines the perplexing serial art of the American artist Richard Tuttle and currently, is the focus of a book project and several articles. Her other research interests include twentieth-century abstraction, time-based media, and the intersection of contemporary art and philosophy. Prior to coming to the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Smith taught at University of Georgia, Emory University, Coastal Carolina University, Belmont University, and Lipscomb University and worked at Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville, Tennessee.
