Auditions and Volunteering

For our ninth season, Huntsville Shakespeare is producing two plays: Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew in repertory this summer at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens outdoor amphitheater. Both productions will feature the same company of actors.

Huntsville Shakespeare practices cross-gender & gender-blind casting, and we strongly encourage all interested actors to audition, especially (but not limited to) actors of color, actors identifying as LGBTQ+, actors of all physical abilities, and actors who play musical instruments. All positions will be paid a stipend.

New company member auditions are Monday, May 11, 6:00-9:00pm at the Morton Hall outdoor amphitheater on the UAH campus. For the audition, please prepare a one-minute monologue by Shakespeare (or one of his contemporaries). Callbacks will be Tuesday, May 12, 6:00-9:00pm at the same location. Callbacks will be readings from Much Ado About Nothing, and The Taming of the Shrew. Please complete this form and submit your headshot and resume. You will receive an email confirming your audition time.

Please note that if you live outside of the Huntsville, AL metropolitan area, we are unable to provide travel reimbursements or lodging for you. Returning company members may bypass auditions and come straight to callbacks; however, returning company members MUST complete this form and submit their headshot and resume. Rehearsals begin June 16, and performances are Fridays and Saturdays, July 24 through August 8 at the Huntsville Botanical Garden outdoor amphitheater.   At auditions, you will fill out a form that details the rehearsal and performance schedule, where you may note any conflicts with the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Deadline to submit this form is Monday, May 11 by 12:00pm CST.
