Having recently completed his second term on the Alabama Robotic Technology Park (RTP) Executive Board, ISEEM professor, Dr. Phillip Farrington, was presented with a certificate of appreciation signed by Alabama Governor, Robert Bentley. He joined the board in 2011, having served as Vice Chair (2012) and Chair (2013).
The RTP is a collaboration between the state of Alabama, Alabama Community College System, AIDT, and robotics industry leaders across the nation. The RTP consists of three facilities (one of which is still in construction), each targeted to a specific industry need. The Robotic Maintenance Training Center trains technicians to work on robotic machinery. The Advanced Technology Research and Development Center conducts research, development and the testing of robotics used in defense projects, space exploration, and manufacturing processes. The Integration, Entrepreneurial and Paint/Dispense Training Center, expected to be completed in early 2016, will allow companies to build and adapt automation for new and existing manufacturing processes. The facility will allow companies to train in manual paint spraying
techniques and robotic dispense training.
