We are excited to highlight our College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences alumni and their current career paths! Miles Davis graduated in Fall 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing & Painting. In Miles’ own words, he discusses his current internship with Disney.
About Miles’ Current Internship:
“I am currently participating in the Disney College Program in Orlando, Florida, which has given me the opportunity to move away from home in Alabama and work for Disney! Interestingly, my roles and work locations alternate day to day, as I work at both water park locations, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, as a park greeter and parker. As a parker, I am the guests' first impression of the staff of the water park as I make sure they safely park their vehicles and make their way to the park entrance. As a park greeter at the entrance, I greet the guests and make sure that they can enter as quickly and efficiently as possible while answering questions as they come. I can't really say which water park I prefer over the other or which role is my favorite, as each day truly offers different experiences and guest interactions.”
How Miles’ CAHS Education Helped:
“My CAHS education assisted me with applying to the Disney College Program, with props to my professors for stressing the importance of getting out of your comfort zone and accepting opportunities that may not be exactly what you want but can lead to something bigger. My professors' continuous lecturing on the importance of networking also influenced me to apply to the Disney College Program with the initiative to get my foot in the door and work my way up the company to be a part of movies, shows, and games as a character concept artist. On the other hand, my CAHS experience assisted me in joining the Disney College Program by giving me a taste of living away from home, which, while attending UAH, was two hours and thirty minutes away. Now in Orlando, Florida, I'm living in a whole different state where I'm applying all that I have experienced with living in a dorm, having roommates, and exercising good financial habits to make this program as enjoyable as possible. ”
