The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will host this year’s Homecoming on the UAH campus February 12-15. This annual tradition, presented by the Office of Student Life in partnership with the UAH Alumni Association and UAH Athletics, brings together students, alumni, administration, faculty, staff and community supporters of UAH, a part of the University of Alabama System. The theme for the festivities is “There’s No Place Like Homecoming,” a nod to the Wizard of Oz.
The celebrations will kick off with Paint the Town Blue on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. During this longstanding tradition, student organizations and campus departments showcase their Charger spirit by creating giant murals on temporary structures around campus.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, the UAH Women’s Basketball team takes on Christian Brothers at 5:30 p.m. in Spragins Hall. The 2025 Homecoming Court will be introduced at halftime. The fourth-ranked UAH Men’s Basketball team tips off at 7:30 p.m. in Spragins Hall. UAH Athletics will celebrate “4.0 night,” recognizing the 128 UAH student-athletes with perfect GPAs during halftime.
Charger pride will burn bright at the Homecoming Bonfire on Friday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m., near Spragins Hall. Featuring the UAH Pep Band, the event will serve as a special kickoff to the spring sports season as student-athletes from baseball, softball, lacrosse and track and field are announced. Attendees will enjoy hot chocolate and sweet fare from local food trucks.
The Association for Campus Entertainment will present the inaugural Lip Sync Contest on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Spragins Hall. Doors open at 8 p.m. The event is open to the entire UAH community, including alumni. The event will feature a special guest, UAH Alumnus Allen Bailey, who is currently touring with MTV’s Wild ‘n Out. The event will also feature the announcement of winners of the campus “Paint the Town Blue” competition.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the fun continues with numerous activities. The Charger community can participate in a Homecoming Service Project benefiting Three Tails ReSale from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The event is open to the entire UAH community, including alumni.
The Charging Home 5K begins at 10 a.m. at the University Fitness Center. The event is open to the entire UAH community – from seasoned athletes to new runners. Registration is available here.
The entire UAH community is invited to join together at the “The Sideline at Spragins” Homecoming Tailgate from Noon-4 p.m. on Saturday at the G16 parking lot north of Spragins Hall. Presented by the UAH Alumni Association, the event will provide a village of tents featuring food, giveaways, fun and family activities. DJ Papa Rooster will amp up Charger fans and Alabama Energy will have two electric cars on display. Weiner Von Braun will serve up tasty hot dog meals.
Both Men’s and Women’s Basketball will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday: The women’s team plays at 2 p.m. and the men play at 4 p.m. Homecoming will culminate in the crowning of the 2025 UAH Homecoming Court. This much-anticipated event will take place during halftime of the Men’s Basketball game.
Former Chargers are invited to the Alumni After-Party at Back Forty Brewing at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

In keeping with the Wizard of Oz theme, the Association for Campus Entertainment will also provide two opportunities to view the movie Wicked. The UAH community, including alumni and their families, are welcome to attend free showings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Charger Union Theater.
