Dear faculty and staff,
I am pleased to welcome BJ Savoy, CPA, to the University of Alabama in Huntsville as our new Controller. BJ will report directly to me within the Office of Finance and Administration.
BJ brings more than 15 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and financial management, with extensive experience in higher education and research-intensive institutions. He also led initiatives to improve financial processes and systems, strengthen accountability and provide data-informed guidance to university leadership. Most recently, he served as associate director of finance for the Basic Science Consortium at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he oversaw financial operations for 12 departments and institutes and led a team of finance professionals.
He holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School and bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration from Towson University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
BJ’s experience in complex higher education environments and his background in financial operations will be valuable as we continue to support UAH’s academic, research and operational priorities.
