Beginning August 4, 2026, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will expand Google Gemini access to all UAH students.
This technical expansion is designed to provide a secure, "walled garden" environment for AI usage across campus:
- Enterprise Data Security: Many students already utilize publicly available AI tools on unmanaged personal accounts. Providing enterprise access ensures that student prompts, course-related queries, and uploaded materials remain protected within UAH’s secure Google environment and are not used to train public Google AI models.
- Technical Availability Only: This update expands tool availability under UAH’s existing Google agreement. It does not modify academic policies, course expectations, or individual instructor authority regarding AI use in the classroom.
- Automated Provisioning: Access will activate automatically via standard UAH logins on August 4. No action, account requests, or administrative setup are required by departments or faculty.
