The UAH Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) wanted to make you aware of upcoming changes to the UAH online campus directory.

Change #1

To improve university data privacy and protect employee contact details from automated phishing, the public-facing directory search (www.uah.edu/directory) will move behind our secure campus login using Google Workspace on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

What you need to know:

  • The New Process: The legacy URL will automatically redirect you to Google Contacts, where you will log in with your standard UAH credentials.
  • How to Search: To search the full university database, click the "Directory" tab on the left-hand menu within Google Contacts (a standard search bar query outside of that tab only searches your personal contacts).
  • Advanced Features: You can still perform advanced searches by department, job title, or campus building by typing those keywords directly into the Directory search bar.

For complete step-by-step instructions and advanced search examples, please review the official quick reference guide in the Client Portal: Online Campus Directory and Contact Searching.

Change #2

Beginning June 19, 2026, the directory link on the UAH homepage (www.uah.edu) will be moved to the footer of the website. Once the directory has been moved behind SSO, this link will direct users to Google Contacts.

Change #3

In tandem with these directory security updates, UAH is transitioning the main campus line—256.824.1000—to an automated voice assistant starting today, June 18th, to optimize OIT resources and bring daytime Help Desk phone support entirely in-house).

Thank you for your partnership as we work to enhance UAH's data protection posture while maintaining robust tools for our campus. If you have any questions, please contact the OIT Help Desk.

Sincerely,

OIT
