Dr. Sean Lane, dean of The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHS), has announced his plans to step down from his role effective June 6. He will become the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Farmingdale State College, State University of New York.

Dean Lane joined UAH in 2018 in his current role. He served as Acting Associate Provost for the Graduate School, International Services, and Academic Integrity from November 2020 to October 2021. More recently in 2023, Dean Lane was named the Interim Dean of the Honors College after the retirement of Dr. William Wilkerson. He held that position in conjunction with his current role through May 2024.

“I am very proud to know Dr. Lane and appreciate the leadership he has provided to CAHS and UAH. Dr. Lane has been passionate about supporting his faculty and staff. The College has progressed while he has been at the helm. From inspiring performances and exhibitions to groundbreaking research and ranked programs, CAHS is well-positioned for the future. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Lane for his service and wish him all the best,” said Dr. David Puleo, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Jodi Price, Associate Dean and Interim Department Chair of Psychology, will become the interim CAHS dean in June. UAH will conduct a search for a new dean at a later date.
