UAH engineering students can spend this summer mentoring the next generation of innovators. Apply to serve as a near-peer mentor for GEMS (Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science) camps for middle- and high-school students to be held at UAH June 2-5, 9-12 and 23-26. GEMS near-peer mentors receive a stipend based on experience and education level. The application deadline is April 30.

The Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) GEMS program relies on local college students to work alongside teachers and U.S. Army research scientists to provide inquiry-based, hands-on lab experiments and activities. This is not just a summer work opportunity but a way to give back to your local community.

GEMS-AvMC is based on a multidisciplinary educational curriculum, and is focused on age/grade-appropriate hands-on activities in areas such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computational science, physics, optics, robotics and chemistry.
