Applying Design Principles and Elements

You will focus on developing advanced color schemes and combining patterns in upholstery, drapery and rugs. Learn to identify different types of fabrics, their serviceability, bunctions, and interior application and how to combine textures, patterns and formality of fabrics. We will discuss interior materials such as moldings, different window types and coverings such as drapery designs. Learn to define exterior color in line with residential exterior styles. Participate in a field trip to a lighting store to learn the correct application and functions of lighting in your home. Enjoy a second field trip to view a wide variety of oriental rugs and learn about their orgins. Apply basic interior design principles in a hands-on project.
