Student Involvement

Student Organizations are a vital part of the UAH community. With over 100 groups, students are able to share interests, network, volunteer, plan programs, and – most importantly – have FUN! The University's student organizations cover the spectrum of activities and interests, from the Pep Band and the Optical Interface Design Club to Student-Run eSports and the Medieval Combat and Culture Group.

UAH offers Service Opportunities for students to develop life skills and give back to the community as a whole. As part of this effort, the Volunteer Chargers help through a variety of campus events and service activities, such as Alternative Fall and Spring Breaks. A list of local service organizations and charities is also available for anyone looking to volunteer in the Huntsville area.

The Office of Student Life encourages personal growth through participation in university traditions, events, and leadership programs.

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides a forum for the free and open expression of student ideas and opinions, is a liaison between the students and university administration, works to instill a sense of community on and off campus, and assists in creating an atmosphere conducive to academic achievement. The SGA provides a voice for opinions and concerns of students and also helps enhance the student experience.

Charger Recreation builds camaraderie and character through outdoor recreation activities, competitive intramural leagues, and club sports. Outdoor recreation trips to locations in the Tennessee Valley and beyond are planned periodically throughout the year, while intramural and club sports take place during the fall and spring semesters.

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life promotes community service, philanthropy, scholarship, and social interaction among the 350+ members of its seven fraternities and six sororities. Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Chi, Phi Beta Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Sigma Nu. Sororities: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Sigma Theta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, and Zeta Phi Beta

Charger Union

The heart of the UAH campus is at Charger Union (CU). With a 100,000 square feet building, Charger Union provides work-spaces, entertainment, and other meeting spaces. With a 300+ seat full Dolby surround sound cinema theatre, the CU is the center of student life engagement.

The UAH Cheerleaders and team mascot Charger Blue are on a mission to support all things athletic. The UAH Cheerleading and Mascot program is open to all full-time students with tryouts at the end of Spring semester.

The Chargerettes are the UAH Dance Team. The team performs during UAH home basketball games and other events on the UAH campus, promoting Charger spirit among students and the University community.
