Student Involvement

Organizations

Organizations

Student Organizations are a vital part of the UAH community. With over 100 groups, students are able to share interests, network, volunteer, plan programs, and – most importantly – have FUN! The University's student organizations cover the spectrum of activities and interests, from the Charger Pep Band and the Optical Interface Design Club to Student-Run eSports and the Medieval Combat and Culture Group.

Service

Service

UAH offers Service Opportunities for students to develop life skills and give back to the community as a whole. As part of this effort, the Volunteer Chargers help through a variety of campus events and service activities, such as Alternative Spring Breaks. A list of local service organizations and charities is also available for anyone looking to volunteer in the Huntsville area.

Leadership

Leadership

The Office of Student Life encourages personal growth through participation in university traditions, events, and leadership programs. The Leadership Education & Advising Program (L.E.A.P.) is open to first-year students. Participants will be matched with an upper-class peer-mentor who will help them transition to campus life and become active members of the UAH community.

Government

Government

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides a forum for the free and open expression of student ideas and opinions, is a liaison between the students and university administration, works to instill a sense of community on and off campus, and assists in creating an atmosphere conducive to academic achievement. The SGA provides a voice for opinions and concerns of students and also helps enhance the student experience.

Recreation

Recreation

Charger Recreation builds camaraderie and character through outdoor recreation activities, competitive intramural leagues, and club sports. Outdoor recreation trips to locations in the Tennessee Valley and beyond are planned periodically throughout the year, while intramural and club sports like basketball, dodgeball, flag football, soccer, softball, volleyball, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee take place during the fall and spring semesters.
