The College of Nursing features a 10,615 square-foot Simulation & Learning Innovation Center (SLIC) on the third floor of the College of Nursing. The SLIC is a state-of-the-art facility with a 16-bed hospital lab, 16-table assessment room, collaboration stations, four advanced practice provider clinical examination rooms, a telehealth room, a Pyxis medication room, and debriefing rooms. The SLIC provides a mock hospital for clinical experiences, including seven high-fidelity simulation laboratories with digital video and audio management systems, four medical-surgical suites, an ICU suite, and an obstetric/pediatric four-bed laboratory. The SLIC, through the Healthcare Simulation and Standardized Patient programs, provides consultative and supportive services for curriculum development, design and integration of innovative immersive instructional strategies and technology, assessment methods, and faculty development. Our vision is to be a world-class learning center that serves our learners and the local community and impacts the national and international academic communities to advance the science of healthcare simulation education to improve practice and patient safety. Simulation Experiences Clinical simulation experiences are recorded and can be viewed in real-time and from previously recorded experiences, allowing faculty to examine the learner's performance and provide feedback. The SLIC is supported by the SLIC Manager, a Learning Resource Center Specialist, faculty coordinators, graduate teaching assistants, and student workers.
