Professor Pottenger teaches undergraduate and graduate
courses in political
theory and philosophy. He is especially interested in problems of
epistemology, ethics, and theory construction of Platonic philosophy,
political theology, and philosophy of science. Representative publications
include: "Religion, Politics, and the Challenge of Political
Hermeneutics," American Review of Politics (1997); "The
Sage and the Sophist: A Commentary on Plato's Lesser Hippias,"
Interpretation: A Journal of Political Philosophy (1995); The
Political Theory of Liberation Theology: Toward a Reconvergence of Social
Values and Social Science (1989).
