The History of Jazz from Zane Home Library is an example of an early multimedia attempt at Guided Instruction software, and seems to be nothing more than a high school general music filmstrip converted to play on a computer screen. The program presents approximately 90 minutes of captioned pictures with narration and background music, along with an encyclopedia, a dictionary, and a music glossary. Some of the pictures are very interesting, however, as a whole the program is disappointing in its use of multimedia. Figure 10 shows a screen from the History of Jazz.
