ASGC Precollege K-12 Programs
High school and middle school students from across North Alabama compete in this annual event, which is held at UAHuntsville. Working in teams, young people face more than two dozen thought provoking (and brain bending) activities. Winning teams earn the right to compete in the Alabama Science Olympiad championship.
- North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF) is hosted annually in March on the campus of UAHuntsville. It is a regional competition for Junior High (grades 5-8) and High School students. Students participating in NARSEF will be invited to attend the state competition.
- Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) is hosted annually in the Spring on the campus of UAHuntsville. It is the state-wide competition for Junior High School (grades 6-8, Junior Division) and High School (grades 9-12, Senior Division). Students who are invited to attend the ASEF have won top awards at their school as well as top awards at their Regional Science Fair. Four talented winners will be selected from the 9-12 division to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair.
- STEM Expo is a state-wide one-day expo to be held on May 3, 2011 in Montgomery, AL to focus attention on improving STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in Alabama K-20 programs. It is hosted by the Institute for Science Education at UAHuntsville and The Alabama Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Coalition for Education (AMSTEC).
