Biography

Alex McGowan is a computer engineer for the Rotorcraft Systems Engineering and Simulation Center (RSESC) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Mr. McGowan's duties at RSESC include performing research, hardware, and software development and integration, and operation of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) as a certified FAA Part 107 pilot for multiple programs. During his time as a student at UAH, Mr. McGowan was an active member and subsequently president of the UAH AUVSI Pathfinder Student Chapter, a student organization focused on unmanned systems education through which he found a passion for competitive drone racing as well as UAS design which led him to pursue a career in the UAS field.
