UAH COB seminar "Blockchains: A New Frontier in Business" APR 06, 2018 | Joyce Anderson-Maples Rachel Pipan, of The Bitfury Group a blockchain technology company will give a free talk at UAH on Wednesday, April 18. Rachel Pipan, senior communications manager of The Bitfury Group, a leading full-service blockchain technology company will lead a seminar at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) on Wednesday, April 18. Pipan’s visit to UAH is sponsored by the College of Business. "Blockchains: A New Frontier in Business," will begin at 5:30 p.m., in the Chan Auditorium located in the Business Administration Building on the UAH campus. The seminar is free and open to the public. "The College of Business is bringing in an expert from one of the leading blockchain technology firms. Our goal for this event is to help our students and community understand the basics of blockchain technology and the many ways the technology can be applied in business," said Dr. Jason T. Greene, Dean, UAH College of Business. "Blockchain technology has applications in business well beyond cryptocurrencies. We’re starting to see developments in supply chains, financial transactions, health care, and travel," Greene added. Rachel Pipan has spent more than two years in the blockchain space and is an award-winning public relations professional. She has given talks at the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Conference of Mayors at SxSW, Harvard Business School and the National Joint Cyber Investigative Task Force. Pipan previously worked on the media strategies team for Edelman PR, in Washington, D.C. She has worked with organizations such as Samsung, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Educational Testing Service, the U.S. Travel Association and others. Pipan earned an M.A. degree in Strategic Communications from American University, and a B.A. degree in Public Relations at Auburn University.
