Congratulations on your admission to UAH!

Choose your student type below and use the Charger Checklist as a guide as you prepare for your first semester at UAH! We recommend you complete your checklist prior to arriving on campus for Orientation.

CHARGER CHECKLIST FOR NEW FRESHMEN

  • Verify Personal Information
    Check the accuracy of all personal information noted on your admission letter. To update your contact information, major, or application term, please contact the Office of Admissions at 256.824.2773.

  • Submit Final High School Transcript
    A final high school transcript, including date of graduation, is due within four weeks of graduation.

    Important: If the final official transcript is not received, you may become ineligible to register for courses or adjust your schedules.

  • Submit Dual Enrollment Credit and Additional Test Scores
    Additional course credit may be earned with dual enrollment credit and qualifying scores on Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or CLEP exams.

    If you have taken dual enrollment courses during high school, please submit official college transcripts as soon as possible. Although dual enrollment college coursework may appear on your high school transcript, an official college transcript is required for the purpose of admission and transfer credit.

    To receive credit from AP, IB, or CLEP, request official test scores be sent directly to UAH via the testing agency. Faxed and personal copies of scores cannot be accepted.

    Scores can be ordered by contacting the appropriate testing agency: AP and CLEP (collegeboard.org, school code, 1854)  /  IB (ibo.org)

    Once official transcripts and test scores have been received and evaluated, you may view your credit on your Academic Transcript through your myUAH account.

  • Begin Using UAH Accounts
    Log in and familiarize yourself with your myUAH account at my.uah.edu. MyUAH is UAH's secure web portal, which allows you to access campus information, accept/decline financial aid, register for classes, view grades, and pay your bill. Visit reset.uah.edu and follow the prompts to set up your account and password.

    Begin checking your @uah.edu email account for announcements regarding housing and financial aid. To access your UAH email account, visit mail.uah.edu and enter your Charger email address as the username.

  • Apply for Financial Aid
    To be considered for all types of federal aid, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) HERE. The school code for UAH is 001055.

  • Accept Scholarships and Financial Aid Awards
    Accept of decline your scholarship and/or financial aid awards through your myUAH account. For step by step instructions visit HERE.

  • Apply for Housing
    Apply for university housing HERE.

  • Review Academic Placement Guidelines
    Academic placement for new students is determined by your ACT/SAT test results, AP scores, and/or previous college credit. You can learn more about your current placement level by viewing our Academic Placement Guidelines HERE. Students who would like to test for a higher course placement in math or English should do so prior to attending New Student Orientation.

  • Register for New Student Orientation
    New Student Orientation provides the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor and register for classes, meet other new students, learn about university policies and procedures, and much more. All new freshmen are required to attend New Student Orientation. Look for information about New Student Orientation to be sent in early April for the summer and fall semesters and November for the spring semester. Visit HERE for the most updated information.

  • Contact Student Disability Services
    If you have a disability that requires academic or physical accommodations, please contact Disability Support Services (DSS) at 256.824.6203 to file an application. Once you submit an application and the necessary documentation, the DSS office will meet with you to determine the appropriate accommodations. New students are encouraged to complete the process early to ensure timely delivery of services.

  • Choose a Meal Plan
    All UAH undergraduate students are required to have a meal plan. Whether you are planning to live on or off campus, we have something to accommodate every student. Visit HERE to learn more.

  • Complete Your Immunization Form
    To ensure the health and safety of our campus community, students are required to submit immunization records to the Student Health Center. It is recommended that the information be submitted upon admission to avoid delays during orientation and registration. The immunization records form and additional information can be accessed HERE or by calling 256.824.6775.

  • Verify Personal Information
    Check the accuracy of all personal information noted on your admission letter. To update your contact information, major, or application term, please contact the Office of Admissions at 256.824.2773.

  • Submit College Transcript
    If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you must submit a final official copy of your transcript to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible to ensure timely evaluation of transfer credit. 

    Important: If the final official transcript is not received, you may become ineligible to register for courses or adjust your schedule.

    Upon admission, transcript evaluations will be completed as early as possible, but no later than the first semester of enrollment. You will receive notification via the email account you provided on your application for admission, as well as your UAH email account, when the evaluation is complete.

  • Begin Using UAH Accounts

If you have been receiving federal aid during your current college enrollment, you will need to update your FAFSA with the UAH School Code (001055). When you conclude your enrollment, you will need to cancel any remaining financial aid at your previous college so that your UAH financial aid can be applied to your student account.

    Accept of decline your scholarship and/or financial aid awards through your myUAH account. For step by step instructions visit HERE.

  • Meet with your Academic Advisor
    Transfer and second bachelor's students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to discuss transfer credit and class selection prior to attending New Student Orientation. Visit HERE to schedule your advising appointment.

  • Register for New Student Orientation
    New Student Orientation provides the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor and register for classes, meet other new students, learn about university policies and procedures, and much more. All transfer students are required to attend New Student Orientation or complete Online Orientation. Look for information about New Student Orientation to be sent in early April for the summer and fall semesters and November for the spring semesters. Visit HERE for the most updated information.
