Parent and Guest Orientation

Each of our Orientation programs has a concurrent Parent and Guest Orientation. We realize you are an important key to your student's success, so we have designed sessions that will help you assist your student in preparing for college at UAH.

What to Expect at Orientation

Whether or not you have visited UAH previously, Orientation will provide you with new information, so be ready to take notes and ask questions. Orientation is a very fun and spirited atmosphere packed with activity, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There might even be a prize for guests who remember to wear their charger blue apparel!

At Orientation you will:

  • Meet with faculty and staff who will provide academic and career counseling for your student
  • Discover university resources exclusively designed to ensure that your student has a successful college experience
  • Finalize all of your student's needs for a successful academic year
  • Meet other Charger Family members

Registering for Orientation

When you and your student decide on the best session date, please have them register online. During the registration process, they will have the option to indicate if they will be bringing any guests with them to Orientation. Please note there is a guest fee of $25 per guest (over the age of 18), which is payable online at the time of registration. The Orientation guest fee is non-refundable, so please make sure you are going to be able to attend prior to registering.

Overnight Accommodations

Spring Orientation is a one-day program. Should you need overnight accommodations in Huntsville during your visit, check out our Accommodations information HERE for area hotels.

Helping your Student Prepare

Help your student prepare by going through the Pre-Orientation Checklist together! This checklist, along with Orientation, will help answer all your questions and complete all the needed steps for a successful enrollment at UAH. Remind your student that Orientation is important to their success, and encourage them to meet other students and take notes during the sessions.

Stay Involved through Parent & Guest Programs

At Orientation you will hear more about the year-around programs and opportunities for you to engage with your student during their academic journey.
