Parent and Family Sessions

Both our First-Time Freshman & Transitions Orientation programs have concurrent Parent & Family Sessions because we realize you’re a key portion to your student’s success! These specially designed sessions will help you successfully transition your student to college life.

At Orientation …

  • You will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff who will provide academic and career counseling for your student.
  • You will also discover a full-family of university resources exclusively designed to ensure that your student has a successful college experience.
  • We also offer special sessions for younger siblings who could be future Chargers or sessions for siblings that are nervous about their big brother or sister leaving home.

Housing

If your student is attending a First-Time Freshman Orientation there is on-campus housing available for guests. Please register for on-campus housing when registering for your preferred orientation date.  Please note our Transitions Orientations are 1-day events and housing is not provided. If you would like to stay at an area hotel please visit accommodations.

Parent FAQ

How can I help my student prepare?

Help your student prepare by going through the Pre-Orientation Guide together!  This guide, along with orientation, will help answer all your questions and complete all the needed steps for a successful enrollment here at UAH.

What can I expect at Orientation?

Whether or not you’ve visited UAH previously, New Student Orientation will provide you a lot of new information. Be ready to take notes and ask questions. The 2-day event is packed with activity. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There might even be a prize for family members who remember to wear their Charger Blue apparel! Also note that Orientation is a very fun & spirited atmosphere for your student, so don’t be surprise if you see your student singing or dancing with other current students.

Stay Involved through Parent & Family Programs

Orientation won’t be the only programing you see for Charger Parents. You will hear more about the year-around programs and opportunities for you to engage with your student during their academic journey.  Make sure you grab information on our Family Weekend!
