Our chemical engineering curriculum builds on the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and chemical reaction kinetics, to design safe, efficient, sustainable, and economic chemical processes. Students pursuing a UAH Chemical Engineering bachelor's degree may choose one of two concentrations: Biotechnology and Materials. BS in Chemical Engineering - Biotechnology Concentration Biotechnology focuses on the understanding and manipulation of living organisms, their products, and processes to improve quality of life. Current applications of biotechnology are in the area of chemical, energy, agriculture, and medicine. It is also promising to solve environmental, energy, and possibly other problems. The students who are interested in pursuing the Biotechnology concentration will take the following two concentration electives: ChE 460 Introduction to Bioprocess Engineering ChE 461 Bioseparations Academic Advising Classes & Requirements CHeE Program Checksheet and Flowchart BS in Chemical Engineering - Materials Concentration Innovations in materials are keys of major advances in modern technology. Current applications of Materials Science and Engineering are in a the fields of chemical, materials, energy, environment, and defense. The students who are interested in pursuing the Materials concentration will take the following two concentration electives: ChE 494 Applied Materials Processing ChE 495 Polymer Engineering Academic Advising Classes & Requirements CHE Program Checksheet and Flowchart Chemical Engineering Advising and Mentoring Chemical Engineering majors receive curriculum advising from Center for Engineering Education (CUE2) which is located in the Engineering Building Room 157. Students are free to make an appointment to speak with an advisor to discuss curriculum planning, progress towards graduation, and problems with classes or other concerns as needed. Have questions?
