UAH‘s Lori Lioce is selected Fellow of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 3, 2013) - The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Nursing's Lori Lioce (DNP, CRNP, FNP-BC, CHSE), was recently selected for induction as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP).

The purpose of the AANP Fellows Program is to impact national and global health by engaging recognized nurse practitioner leaders who make outstanding contributions to clinical practice, research, education or policy. At UAH, Lioce serves as a clinical assistant professor, and nursing simulation coordinator. Additionally, she is the Vice-President of Operations for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, and Alabama State Representative for the AANP.

Lioce's clinical experience includes family nurse practitioner primary and emergency care, and healthcare simulation education. She holds professional certifications as a certified healthcare simulation educator, board certified family nurse practitioner (American Nurses Credentialing Center), basic life support healthcare provider, advanced cardiac life support provider, trauma nurse, and pediatric advanced life support provider. Lioce received her BSN, MSN, and post-masters certificate as a family nurse practitioner from UAH. Additionally, she earned a DNP from The Samford University Ida V. Moffet School of Nursing, and a certificate in simulation education from BryanLGH College of Health Science (Lincoln, Neb).

AANP will honor this year's FAANP inductees at a ceremony, followed by a reception and dinner on Thursday, June 20, during the AANP's 28th national conference at The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.

Established by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) in 2000, the Fellows of the AANP (FAANP) is dedicated to the global advancement of NPs and the high-quality health care they deliver. By engaging recognized NP leaders who have made outstanding contributions to NP education, policy, clinical practice or research, and developing NP leaders of the future, we are furthering the NP profession while enhancing AANP's mission.
