UAHuntsville's Sundar Christopher publishes academic, career guide for graduate students

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (January 12, 2012) - Plotting the course for graduate school and beyond will be much smoother for students with the publication of a new book written by University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville) professor of atmospheric science, Dr. Sundar A. Christopher.

Navigating Graduate School and Beyond: A Career Guide for Graduate Students and a Must Read for Every Advisor is now available through The American Geophysical Union. The book provides the framework for students to be successful in graduate school and in their prospective careers.

Christopher is professor and chair of Atmospheric Science at UAHuntsville and associate director of Earth System Science Center. The recipient of numerous honors and awards, his research interests include satellite remote sensing, student professional development, air pollution and climate change air quality.

UAHuntsville's Atmospheric Science Program is ranked in the top 10 in the nation based on the faculty productivity index reported in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Christopher received an undergraduate degree in engineering from P.S.G. College of Technology (India), and two graduate degrees: an M.S., in atmospheric science from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and an M.A. in industrial and organizational psychology from UAHuntsville. He earned a Ph.D., in atmospheric science from Colorado State University.
