UAH named one of nation's most affordable online colleges

Huntsville, Ala. (July 11, 2013) — The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) was recently ranked one of the most affordable universities in the United States, by Affordable Colleges Online (ACO).

Low tuition costs, online and distance learning programs, and other factors earned UAH a ranking of 48th in the nation, among larger public colleges by the organization. Specifically, ACO maintains that given today's global economy, the importance of being able to work virtually is imperative, and gaining an education online will only become more common over time.

ACO analyzed several thousand colleges and ranked the top 54 schools with the most affordable online programs with graduates that are successful in finding high paying jobs after graduation. The colleges were ranked on :

  • Net tuition prices
  • Colleges whose graduates earned more than $31,000 average starting salary or more
  • Colleges that are fully accredited, four-year not-for-profit institutions
  • Colleges with at least one online or distance learning degree program during the 2012-2013 school year
  • At least one course available online

UAH has been offering online courses and degree programs since the 2006-2007 academic year. Earlier this year, US News & World Report ranked UAH's undergraduate and graduate nursing programs 21, and 13 respectively, in their annual Best Online Education Programs 2013 web publication.
