UAHuntsville art exhibitions showcases alumni and faculty

HUNTSVILLE, Ala (October 4, 2012) — Three new exciting exhibitions will open Wednesday, October 10, on The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville) campus.

The shows will run daily from 4:30 p.m., through 6:30 p.m. The Wilson Hall Gallery will feature work from 18 UAHuntsville alumni. The Louis Salmon Library Gallery highlights work from the Green Pea Press. Additionally, the UAHuntsville community and the public can enjoy viewing recent works by the university’s art faculty in the Union Grove Gallery (adjacent to the University Center).

The UAHuntsville exhibit runs through Tuesday, October 30, and includes work from alumni living around the country, from Kansas to Boston, Chicago to Louisiana, as well as local favorites. Works in the exhibit are in a wide range of styles and media, including video, installation, sculpture, photography, drawing and painting, along with a variety of mixed-media pieces. 

Along with the Alumni Exhibition, a show with work from Green Pea Press artists will be on view through Friday, October 26. This printmaking workshop was founded by UAHuntsville alumna Rachel Lackey (’08), and provides equipment, exhibition opportunities and a community for local artists. The Green Pea Press is located in the Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment Center on Seminole Drive in Huntsville.

New works by university faculty in the Union Grove Gallery completes the trio of exhibitions. The shows runs through Thursday, October 25 and features work by visiting sculptor Marin Abell, José Betancourt, visiting printmaker Michael Crouse, Glenn Dasher, Kathryn Jill Johnson, Keith Jones, Roxie Veasey and part-time instructors Robert Bean, Alan Davis, Cara Fuller and Valerie Roberts.
