HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Northrop Grumman Corp. provided a $4,000 gift to The University of Alabama in Huntsville for engineering education.
On August 3rd, Northrop Grumman made a generous contribution to the UAHuntsville ENGINEER Program.
Vice President and Corporate Lead Executive for Northrop Grumman in Huntsville, Lt. General Kevin Campbell (Ret.), presented the check to a group of high school and college students and high school teachers, all of whom are in the ENGINEER Program.
The ENGINEER Program (Experience for the Next Generation of Innovators, through Networked Engineering Education and Research) is an engineering education and outreach initiative, based at UAHuntsville, which seeks to attract more students to the engineering profession while better training those students already studying engineering.
Last year, the ENGINEER Program reached a total of 600 students. The high school portion of ENGINEER, called InSPIRESS (the Innovative Student Project for the Increased Recruitment of Emerging STEM Students) enrolled approximately 440 students from 16 different highs schools in north Alabama. The undergraduate portion of ENGINEER, called Integrated Product Team (IPT), had approximately 160 students from four different universities.
The contribution from Northrop Grumman will be used to further the goals of the ENGINEER Program.
