UAHuntsville gets an A+ when it comes to fitness

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (September 4, 2012) — The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville) can add another feather to its hat: the university gets an “A+” for the campus fitness initiative Just Move It.

The latest honor was bestowed on the university by Fitbie, a new interactive fitness site and wellness channel on MSN.com. UAHuntsville was ranked with 19 other colleges in the country as one of “The 20 Fittest Colleges in America,” by the web site.

Just Move It (JMI) is a 10-week fitness competition open to all UAHuntsville faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Since 2006, each January the program officially kicks off with individual and team-oriented fitness goals. Individual participants and teams can track their progress and earn their points online.

Exercising, attending wellness seminars, and adopting more healthy lifestyles all earn participants JMI points. For the last two years, UAHuntsville has run JMI in conjunction with Scale Back Alabama, a state-wide fitness initiative.
