Scholarships in English
The English Department offers scholarships for both graduate students and undergraduates. Graduate students may also apply for Graduate Teaching Assistantships. Note that December 1 is the deadline for the UAH Financial Aid Office. UAH students may be eligible for several different endowed scholarships, but may be awarded only one endowed scholarship. Important: Students should fill out the "Need Analysis" part of the scholarship application even when not applying for a need-based scholarship. Doing so makes students eligible for other scholarships they may not know about.
UAH offers dozens of endowed scholarships for undergraduates, two of which are available only to English majors (one of them is also available to English minors). To apply, students must fill out a general application supplied by the UAH Financial Aid Office. The scholarship application is available online (click here). These scholarships do not require the FAFSE financial aid form, but many do require demonstrated financial need, for which students should fill out the "Need Analysis" section of the Scholarship Application. To be considered for scholarship requiring "need," students must submit the need analysis form along with the scholarship application
